Performance Project: Object Theatre

For this session, we practised Object Theatre, improvising with found objects to create characters and tell a story. Our group was assigned to create a short performance where waitstaff were being trained. Together on Collaborate, we discussed ideas for our performance and rehearsed it. The collaboration was very enjoyable, and we were able to bounce off of each other to add to the humour of our performance.
We then performed it to the rest of the course, and watched performances by the other groups. Everyone had brought something completely unique to the assignment, had their own take on the story, their own ideas for characterisation, and brought their own sense of humour to it as well. I really loved every group’s work.

I’m also a huge fan of art made from found objects, and seeing the creative ways people made believable characters from household items was great. I also really enjoyed puppeteering and giving character to my puppet.
