Inspiration: Rooty Toot Toot (1951) by John Hubley
This is another film I really love. The colour palette, the art style, the character designs, the use of sound and the way the action corresponds with the music, and the way each character has different mannerisms.

I love that the style mixes loose doodling with precision in its lines and colour blocks

I love the choices made in which shapes were highlighted or coloured and which weren’t, and the way the courtroom audience go from having bodies to being floating heads

There’s a freedom in the fluidity of the character design, in this way it’s similar to “Choir Tour” by Edmunds Janssons
Here are some of the ways the audience and jury of the courtroom were portrayed:

They change in detail, in style, and in colour throughout the film. I think the overall aim was to think of the composition and visual effect of each individual scene/frame, rather than placing importance on consistency in character design. Again, I love the freedom of creativity this allows, and I do think it adds to how satisfying the film is to watch. This film has definitely influenced my own style and how I want to make films from now on.
