Puppet Workshop: Making a Yeti

In our first puppet workshop, we began making armatures. I have long been making many failed attempts at a yeti puppet, the armatures for which I’d rather not post here.. so to finally be learning how to make a proper, working armature was very very exciting for me

In preparation for the workshop, I watched 2 videos Steve sent us about how to make an armature, and sketched an idea of the shape I’d like my puppet to be, as well as where I thought its armature components would be.

In the studio, Steve went through the process of building it. Some aspects were tricky, but we all helped each other build and fix our armatures, and Vai in particular turned out to be gifted at carpentry, and helped me a lot with sawing my screws

Adding the Bones, made from epoxy putty

The next step will be carving the head and making the foam stuffing. Then I’ll be adding his fur to him
